Counselling for Children and Young People
Online support for ages 6–18
A safe, supportive space for children and young people to express feelings, build confidence, and navigate anxiety, school stress, friendship issues, family changes, and difficult experiences.
Children and young people do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Sometimes emotions show themselves through anxiety, anger, withdrawal, low confidence, worries, school difficulties, or changes in behaviour.

A safe space for young people to be heard and supported.
Growing up can feel overwhelming.
Children and adolescents may be trying to cope with feelings and experiences they do not fully understand yet.
They may be affected by school pressure, friendship difficulties, family changes, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, or painful experiences they have kept inside.
Counselling offers a space that is theirs — a place where they can talk, reflect, explore feelings safely, and begin making sense of what is happening within them.
What Counselling can help with
Counselling may support children and young people with:
Anxiety and worry
Low confidence or self-esteem
Friendship difficulties
Bullying or social struggles
School stress or pressure
Immigration stress, cultural adjustment
Phobias and Fears
Emotional regulation difficulties
Family changes, separation, or conflict
Big emotions such as anger, sadness, or overwhelm
Feeling withdrawn, misunderstood, or unable to cope
Emotional challenges of life in a new country
Every child and young person is different.
Some speak openly. Others need time, patience, and a gentle approach before they feel ready to share.
My work is always shaped around their age, needs, personality and level of emotional readiness.
My Approach with Children & Young People
When working with younger clients, emotional safety is essential.
I aim to create a calm, supportive, and age-appropriate online space where they feel respected and not pressured.
The goal is not to force them to talk, but to help them feel safe enough to express themselves in the way that feels right for them.
Depending on the young person, the work may involve talking, emotional exploration, creative reflection, noticing patterns, building confidence, understanding feelings, and developing healthier ways to cope.
My role is to meet them where they are and support them gently, with warmth, patience, and care.
Supporting Parents and Carers
When supporting children and young people, it can also be important to work thoughtfully with parents or carers where appropriate.
This may include an initial conversation to understand the concerns, explain how the counselling process works, and create a safe and supportive framework around the young person.
Confidentiality is always handled with care, in a way that respects the young person while also prioritising safety and wellbeing.
The aim is always to support the child or adolescent in a way that feels contained, ethical, and helpful.
What Sessions may Feel Like
Some young people come into counselling ready to talk. Others need time.
Some may express themselves more through emotions, behaviour, or day-to-day experiences than by directly naming what is wrong.
Sessions are held in a gentle and supportive way, helping them feel understood rather than judged.
Over time, counselling can help young people build emotional awareness, confidence, resilience, and a greater sense of inner safety.
A Few Important Things to Know
Counselling for children and young people is always approached with care, sensitivity, and respect for their stage of development.
Parents or carers may be involved at the beginning where appropriate, but the counselling space also needs to feel like a safe place for the young person themselves.
If you are unsure whether this support is the right fit, a free 20-minute consultation is the best first step.
